Scitec Beef Isolate Review

Scitec Nutrition 100% Beef Hydrolyzed Isolate
Overview

Here is what Scitec have to say:

Beef has legendary status among hard training, goal oriented athletes – many people experience better gains consuming this meat over chicken. So why not have beef protein shakes when quality powdered raw material is available?

Our 100% HYDROLYZED BEEF ISOLATE PEPTIDES is a complete, hydrolyzed beef peptide protein manufactured from fresh beef raw material, a 100% natural product with no hormones used. It is an enzymatically hydrolyzed (virtually “predigested”) beef protein, which means that its digestion and absorption will be fast. A complete protein, such as ours, provides the body with all the necessary types of amino acids, including the 9 amino acids the body cannot synthesize and must be supplied by the diet (i.e. Histidine, Isoleucine, Leucine, Lysine, Methionine, Phenylalanine, Threonine, Tryptophan, Valine).

100% HYDROLYZED BEEF ISOLATE PEPTIDES is a tremendous alternative to milk proteins, especially over controversial soy proteins! Obviously for many people lactose intolerance or even milk allergy can be a serious problem, while many others follow some degree of a paleo diet, where dairy products are excluded and meat protein sources are favored. (The beef raw material contains no lactose, but this product is manufactured in a facility that processes lactose containing milk products!)

100% HYDROLYZED BEEF ISOLATE PEPTIDES is over 390% more concentrated in protein than a prime sirloin steak trimmed to zero fat! Our beef protein has no added Creatine! Why tie your Creatine use and exact dosing (or lack thereof) to a protein product? Made no sense to us! Many beef protein products suffer from bad taste! Our beef protein tastes great, try it for yourself! Dietary proteins are the source of nitrogen and indispensable amino acids, which the body requires for tissue growth and maintenance. Therefore our 100% HYDROLYZED BEEF ISOLATE PEPTIDES contributes to the growth and maintenance of muscle mass, and also to the maintenance of normal bones.

So it not an all in one, mass gainer or a diet shake. Its designed to help you hit your MACROs and assist in repairing and building muscles after a workout. 25g’s of protein is about average and about right. 0g of Sugars is excellent though I hate seeing high amounts of Sugar in my shakes.

Taste
I used the Vanilla Delight flavour and it must be said I wasn’t keen on trying a Beef Protein shake and I was genuinely worried that it would taste like blended Steak . It doesn’t at all, it has a thicker consistency to a Whey shake and it looks like it hasn’t mixed even when it has. None of this matters though as it tastes amazing. Really, really nice even if it does have a slight aftertaste.

Price
£28.88 for a tub containing 30 servings. Not too bad, its about average I’d say.

Side Effects
None

Results
I’m not entirely convinced that Beef protein shakes are better than Whey but they definitely are closing the gap. Beef protein used to taste foul but Scitec have made it a thousand times better, I believe that the results from extended use would excel that of a Whey based shake due to Beef’s better profile. It’s very different kind of shake but in a good way, even a single serving of Hydrolyzed Beef Isolate is incredibly filling and could easily be used as a meal replacement. I wouldn’t want it to be my sole shake though I would want a Whey shake in my diet as well, I think that’s more through habit than anything else though, I feel strange if I haven’t had one.

The big question is should you try a beef protein shake? Damn right you should. Never be afraid of trying something new, this is a great shake and possibly a glimpse into the future of bodybuilding. 9/10
