This is a post workout shake, well it can
be taken anytime but I think it best suits being a post workout shake. It has 4
types of proteins in Casein, Milk, Whey and Egg,
this provides both fast and slow digesting proteins to keep both you and your muscles fed for hours after taking the shake. What makes this a post
workout shake in my eyes is the fast digesting sugars that get straight into
your muscles and replenish them forcing to grow.
This shake does
contain Lactose so if you have an intolerance then beware.
Taste
I had the Chocolate flavour and its taste
pretty good, you have to really shake it to get it to mix up nice and smooth
but its more than worth the effort. It's not sickly at all which some Chocolate flavour shakes can be.
Side
Effects
I’m not Lactose intolerant so none.
Price
£29.99 for a tub with 25 servings in.
Results
Although this isn’t really billed as a post
workout shake it is so it needs to work well for recovery and growth.
Fortunately 34g of protein is more than enough to kick start the recovery and
growth process and the 15g of sugars drives it all into your muscles. This hasn’t
had any extra’s included in (creatine, glutamine, BCAAs etc) so you’ll want to
throw a few of those into your mixture as well to make it truly effective but
it is a solid basic build and a good starting place.
The shake itself is quite filling, I found
that it kept me satisfied for a quite a few hours, I didn’t use this whilst
dieting but I would imagine that the slow release proteins would do a good job
of keeping the hunger pains away.
Formula 80 tastes pretty good and mixes fairly
well, it is also reasonably priced so it ticks boxes right across the board.
This is a protein that would be a great
starting place for any people new to training who are looking to make solid
gains and progress but without adding in the more fancy supplements, also a
great post workout for those of you who are on a calorie restricted diet and
are still suffering from hunger. 7/10
