25g of protein is a fairly standard amount for a whey protein shake and the they have kept the Carbs and Fats relatively low as well. The Sugar could be a touch lower than 1.9g.

The protein itself is primarily made up of Whey Protein Concentrate but also features Hydrolysed and Isolate so this concoction should be ideal for a protein shake post workout or upon waking when your body needs protein to be absorbed quickly.

Taste

I had the Vanilla Custard Cream and it was delicious. It was really, really good. It mixed up beautifully in a standard shaker, you didn’t need to use a blender and there were never any lumps. I had double shakes and they also mixed up well but did get a little sickly towards the end. This wasn’t a problem when only having a single serving.

Results

This is the first Smart-Tec product I have ever used and it certainly won’t be the last if this is the quality that they can produce. I think this is an excellent protein shake, it ticks all the boxes, it has a good nutritional profile, it tastes great, it mixes well and its decent value. The flavour is spot on and it mixed up without any issues. The sugar content is higher than I normally like to see but it’s not a deal breaker. It provides a great protein hit as well with 25g of both rapid absorption protein and slower absorbing ones. It keeps you full but only for about an hour or so, I found it great for in between meals to keep me on track. It also doesn’t tie itself down to one season, it would be a handy supplement to keep in your cupboard and use year round. Since it provides 25g of protein per serving it would fit very nicely into either a bulking or a cutting nutritional plan. I don't really have anything bad to say about WheyFX+ it is a very good choice for a protein shake. 8/10

Design

Xinx have brought a wonderfully sophisticated look to their products with a thin coloured strip that starts at the base of your leggings/shorts and gradually moves up and spreads across your chest. You can pick between either a blue/grey or black/pink combo for all the pieces. Personally I preferred the light blue but both are very stylish.

Comfort

The clothes are very smooth and silky against the skin, they don’t get sticky or pinch. They allow great freedom of movement and I never found them to be restrictive. The vest tops didn’t cut in my shoulders at all and fits perfectly. The vest tops and leggings were both very breathable and kept me very cool during both cardio and weight training. The shorts made life a bit more enjoyable when the hot weather came and I was able to workout outside without overheating, they are so comfortable you could use them as pyjama shorts!

Fit

The leggings fit exactly as you would expect them to and they bend and stretch with you which makes life a bit easier in the gym. The vest tops are very supportive and fit perfectly, they are flexible so they twist and turn with you rather than wrinkling up like some tops. The shorts are rather short so if you have any issues showing off a bit of flesh then these might pose an issue for you.

Now you might think this is very expensive for gym clothes but these aren’t just standard gym clothes these are top of the range and designed for people whose passion is fitness. If you spend hours each week at the gym then this is completely worth it. If you look at the prices of the top designer brands of fitness clothing then actually these are not only cheaper but in my opinion both look better and are better quality.

Durability

These products have survived our washing machine test! They have been vigorously used and are showing no signs of shrinking, losing their shape, the colours haven’t run and their isn’t a scratch on them. These are obviously very high quality.

Results

Xinx prove that it is possible to look great at the gym without sacrificing functionality. These are top of the line designer clothes for those who have devoted their life to fitness and want to look damn good doing what they love! People happily spend up to £100 on a dress that they wear once and then it will sit in the cupboard for 6 months until the next “event” and they’ll see that as a great purchase. So I don’t think it’s unreasonable to spend a similar amount of money on a set of kick ass gym clothes that you can use 4 or 5 times a week and Xinx have made these so well that they will last a LONG time so. They are very well designed, fantastically made and I have no complaints at all.

Design

Xinx seem to have perfected their style on the first attempt. All of their clothes look fantastic. They are sleek and stylish and are sure to make you stand out. The Sweatpants and Prime T-Shirt combo definitely makes a statement when you enter the gym, I had the black and gold design and I absolutely love them. The Gold detail seamlessly travels up your leg and blends into the top creating a very bold look. The Team T Shirt takes a stripped back approach and it works wonderfully with the big “Xinx” logo stamped across your chest. My personal favourite though is the Prime Vest in Red, White and Grey, it oozes style and, for me at least, is the best looking training top I’ve ever owned. 

Comfort

The Sweatpants are my most comfortable item of clothing. I wear them at the gym, around the house, whilst playing sports and if I was allowed to I’d wear them everywhere. They are nice and warm but they never get sweaty or too hot. They also performed excellently during intense leg workouts, they aren’t restrictive and they don’t hamper performance. The 2 T-Shirts are very comfortable as well, they are fitted but don’t ever stick to you and they allow full range of movement. The Prime Vest isn’t a stringer so it’s not super low cut and is extremely comfortable, some vest tops can cut into you a little bit but not this one. All of the materials used feel like they are of the highest quality. As soon as you put them on you can tell that they have been designed and made to perfection.

Fit

The sweatpants have a nice fitted feel to them but they never restrict movement or cut into you when you bend. The Prime T-Shirt is tight in all the right places, in particular it does an excellent job of showing off your arms. It also feels fitted around the waist and chest to really show off the figure you worked so hard for. The Team T-Shirt is a bit more of a standard T-Shirt fit for those who prefer a looser T-Shirt when they hit the gym. My old favourite the Prime Vest is obviously designed to show off your arms completely but it also hangs nicely over your traps to really bring them out. Due to the way it cuts across your chest it also really showcases your hard work on the bench press.

Durability

These products have been worn a lot since we got hold of them, they have been put through hell in the gym, playing sports and on the track. They have all been washed repeatedly as well. There is not a scratch on any of them, they all have held their shape and colour, they look as good as they did when they first came out the package.

Results

When the prices are quite high it can be a bit of a gamble to buy from a company you haven’t heard of but I cannot stress to you again just how good these products are. They not only perform perfectly but they look fantastic as well. You can tell from the first moment you see them that these products have been designed and made to be the Gucci of the fitness world. They feel phenomenal when you have them on they don’t feel cheap like some gym clothes do, you can tell that they are of the highest quality. I have tried to find faults with these products but I really can’t find anything worth bringing up. They are borderline perfect!

JST Jodie Sleepex Review

Results

With these kind of products what you are looking for is a deep restful sleep and increased recovery from demanding workouts. Firstly let me say that I do not suffer from insomnia or any sleep problems I normally find that I can get to sleep fairly quickly and generally sleep right through (at least when I don’t have to wake up to eat!). Whilst taking Sleepex I found that I slept soundly every night, I can’t think of a single nights sleep that was disturbed by anything. I always woke up feeling rested and refreshed. This automatically puts you in a great mood and sets you up for the day.

The recovery was present but wasn’t particularly drastic, I did still wake up a bit sore some days. You can tell that your DOMs have been reduced but they have not been eliminated.

It is just slightly more expensive than comparable products on the market but it is certainly a very good offering from JST Jodie that does exactly what it sets out to do! 8/10

JST Jodie JSoup Review

So its basically a low calorie lunch option. JSoup provides only 13g of Protein which won’t help much with any muscle building or maintenance but it might be handy for those who strict calorie restrictions.

The Carb content is fairly low but most of them are Sugars which is bad news for dieters which is strange because that’s who this products is aimed at.

Taste

I had the Country Vegetable flavour and it didn’t taste “right” when I tried it cold but heated up it tasted just like any canned soup you could buy from a shop. It mixed up very well.

Results

This is a strange one. It’s a "healthy" lunch for dieters thats too high in Sugars for dieters to use. The protein content is fairly low as well so its not got that going for it either. Speaking of the protein is comprised of Whey and Soy so it’s not best.  

It does taste pretty good though so I imagine it will find its market. Its not cheap but it is cheaper than buying 14 cans of soup so I suppose it is reasonably priced. It didn’t have any problems mixing but it did go lumpy once when it spent slightly too long in the saucepan! You can microwave it as well if that’s more convenient for you. It is handy that you can mix it up in the morning and take it to work with you in a shaker and then heat it there.

What it boils down to is its OK but it could be much, much better. 6/10

Flying Pig Womens Clothing

Overview

Flying Pig are a fairly new company on the block and they are keen to make an impression with their brand. This set comprises of a vest top and shorts. As you can see from the photo the Vest Top is a vibrant pink colour and the shorts have a matching pink trim sure to make you stand out.

Design

The Vest Top has a simple but effective design with a small Flying Pig logo on the front upper right hand side and on the back. There is also a silver “Flying Pig” decal down the side, it all looks very sleek and stylish. The shorts waistband is emblazoned with a bright pink “Flying Pig” and along with the pink company logo in the corner you will definitely be making a statement whilst at the gym. They currently only come in the pink and grey combo.

Comfort

The shorts are so comfortable I have been tempted to wear them as pyjamas and the vest top breathes very well. So not only will you look the part but you’ll keep cool which is always a plus.

Fit

The elasticated waistband of the shorts ensures a perfect fit without ever being tight. The Vest Top is slightly loose but not by any means baggy. Some gym tops can be a bit restrictive in the gym but since this a little bit looser it allows for great range of motion and more flexibility while you workout. I imagine these would be great for yoga!

£19.99 for both the vest and the shorts.

Durability

Good news they survived the washing machine test! They have been washed several times and have shown no signs of wear and tear. They have both kept their colour and didn’t shrink either. So looks like they will last.

Results

It can sometimes be a bit of a gamble to buy from a company that you haven’t heard of before, well you can rest easy because these feel like they are quality products. They aren’t a Primark T-Shirt with a sticker on.  This sport set from Flying Pig really ticks pretty much every box when it comes to the things that I look for in gym clothing. It looks great. It feels great. Its very comfortable. Its practical and its survived the washing machine and vigorous workouts. Flying Pig have priced this product very competitively, it’s very hard to find a quality gym top for less than the £15 mark and they are selling the complete set for just under £20. The only real criticism that I have is that it only comes in the one colour but I’m sure that’ll be fixed over time. Overall I think that these are excellent products and definitely worth the money. 7/10

Flying Pig Mens Clothing

2 Tone Zoodie

Overview

Flying Pig are a fairly new company on the block and they are keen to make an impression with their brand. This 2 Tone Zoodie is designed for men but can also be worn by women. If you don’t know what a Zoodie is then the simplest way to describe it is “A hoodie with a zip”.

Design

My was a New French Navy with red detail and logos on. It looks very stylish and sharpe. The red detail in particular makes it really stand out. There is Flying Pig writing down one sleeve and the slogan Pigs Might Fly written across the bottom of the back. The is a lone Flying Pig logo in the upper right hand side of the Zoodie. The bright red inside of the hood makes quite a statement as well. I really like the way this Zoodie is laid out.

Comfort

It feels very nice when you have it on. It’s really warm and soft. I’ve found the Zoodie to be really handy for early morning gym sessions when its still a bit cold out.

Fit

It fits very snuggly, not uncomfortably tight but like a fitted shirt. It allows a great deal of flexibility and movement, it would be great for going for a jog in the colder months.

Durability

It didn’t shrink in the wash and the colours didn’t run at all. So all good there.

Results

What we have here is a very comfortable product that is excellent in all situations. It was so comfortable and looked so good I have actually worn this not only to the gym but also out and about in my day to day life. It’s a bit more expensive than I would normally pay for a product like this but the quality of the Zoodie allows for the higher price tag. It fits very nicely and it feels like it will last for long time. I’ve had a look through the available colour combinations and there are 10 different choices. I’m looking forward to the colder months so I can use this more. 8/10

L-Carnitine, Green Tea and Alpha Lipoic Acid are no doubt very familiar ingredients for those of you who are serious about dropping fat.

Taste

As this a capsule it doesn’t really have any taste at all.  Even if you leave it in your mouth it doesn’t give off a bitter aftertaste.

£24.79 for 36 servings which if you are on a maximum dosage of 6 caps a day will last you 18 days.

Results

I have tested a lot of fat burners and I am a strong believer that you get out what you put in. Do not expect miracles, no fat burner will provide you with that. If you put in the hard work and take Shredex as directed you will start to see results. It is as simple as that. I worked my way up from 1 cap twice a day to 3 caps twice a day. For the first two weeks of my trial I wasn’t too impressed with Shredex but I obviously needed to up the dose because as soon I moved onto 3 caps twice a day fat just seemed to melt off me. I also noticed that I wasn’t holding any water which makes a big difference to how “Shredded” you look.

I have to say that they were easy to take and you could tell you had taken something, it wasn’t unpleasant by any means but I felt a little more energetic than usual. I think that the ingredient list is very strong in Shredex but I can’t really comment too much on that as we haven’t been given exact details on the amount of each compound.

Scitec seem to always manufacture top notch products and this one is no exception. It’s perfect for anyone who needs a little helping hand shedding some weight and toning up. 8/10

It’s a mass gainer but the calories aren’t sky high at only 530 this means that you’ll have more control if your MACROs are a bit tighter. You can of course take 2 servings a day if you need the extra calories that day.

5g of Creatine and 1.5g of HMB are both great inclusions to help boost power, muscle size and strength.

Taste

I had the Banana flavour and it was amazing, even with 3 large scoops it really mixed up perfectly. It was smooth and creamy, the actual flavour was very nice, I always looked forward to my shake, it was my reward for finishing my workout.

With a mass gainer the number one question on everyone’s mind is, obviously, “Does it add mass?” Well the short and quick answer is yes. More importantly it adds rock hard muscle. Well mostly. I can’t tell you that it adds 100% muscle and no fat but of the mass it added to me at least 75% of it was muscle which is actually very good for a mass gainer. Gainers notoriously add more fat than muscle. This one is different, this one works!

So asides from performing its primary function it actually works very nicely as a meal replacement. I tend to hit the gym early morning so I used this as a post workout/breakfast shake and it kept me full and satisfied until my next meal. It also does a very good job of increasing performance and power, the massive carb load coupled with the Creatine and HMB actually makes your muscles look very full after you’ve taken it.

The price is rather high considering you only get 16 servings in but I imagine you’ll be able to find a good offer or it on sale. That is really my only complaint. Apart from that it is another top class product from Sci-MX. 8/10
