Scitec Protein Delite

Overview

Here’s what Scitec have to say:
We offer you these tasty shakes in many great flavors that are high in quality protein. Each flavor of Protein Delite contains dried fruit pieces or chocolate bits. Protein Delite’s protein source contributes to the maintenance and growth of muscle mass and also to the maintenance of normal bones.

Protein Delite contains milk proteins, including whey and casein, both so-called complete protein, because they provide the body with all necessary amino acids, including the 9 amino acids (i.e. Histidine, Isoleucine, Leucine, Lysine, Methionine, Phenylalanine, Threonine, Tryptophan, Valine) that are considered essential for life, because the body cannot synthesize them.

A nice low calorie protein treat, it’s a protein shake but with added crunchy bits. 19g of Protein is a decent size for a snack. Since it’s mostly casein protein I found it useful to have at night in place of a casein shake.

Sugars are slightly higher than I like at 3g but since it’s a snack I’ll forgive it.

Taste
I have the Chocolate Coconut flavour and it has a nice flavour but on your first serving you might be slightly put off by the pieces that are in it, it takes some getting used to.

Side Effects
None

Price
£32.90 for a 1kg tub with 33 servings in.

Results
I primarily used this in the evenings alongside a casein shake. I found that Protein Delite kept me full and satisfied. It’s quite sweet so it takes away any cravings that you might have which is handy when you are on a strict diet. The protein content is slightly low so it would not make a good post workout shake but I see no reason why you couldn’t use it at any time of day, personally I chose to use it in the evenings due to the casein content.

I think that although this could be used as a Casein replacement it should actually be used alongside one.  Protein Delite is more of a treat than a daily supplement not only because of cost but also the protein content isn’t quite high enough to make it an effective overnight supplement. That being said I like Protein Delite and think that it does exactly what it set out to do, make a damn tasty shake. 7/10

Everything you need to keep yourself in top condition and keep your joints from aching when you put them under extreme stress in the gym.

The ingredients uses are mostly stated above so I won't go through them again.

Taste
The capsules don’t have a taste and don’t repeat on you. They are quite large though so some may have trouble swallowing them.

Side Effects
None

Price
£22.80 for a tub with 30 days supply in.

Results
Anyone who has been lifting heavy weights for a few years will know that eventually it catches up with you and some joints will start to hurt a little bit. Its is imperative that you look after your body or it might lead to a more serious injury or complaint that could be the end of any serious work in the gym. Heavy Duty’s aim is to keep you from hurting yourself and keeping all your joints in top condition.

Some people think that joint support supplements are just for those who are taking anabolic steriods or prohormones which can lead to massive growth and strain on the joints but in reality everyone who lifts can benefit from taking a support supplement.

The effectiveness is a bit hard to judge, I am fortunate enough not to suffer any regular joint pains but I have always taken a supplement to help my joints. I certainly didn’t experience any pain or discomfort whilst taking Heavy Duty. I had no unwanted side effects whilst taking this.

The capsules don’t have a taste or aftertaste, they are reasonably priced and very useful to any serious lifter. 8/10

Scitec G-Bomb

Overview

Here’s what Scitec have to say:
L-Glutamine – very well-known and popular as a sports supplement – is the most abundant amino acid in the human blood, and it’s in great demand throughout the body. Glutamine may become conditionally essential in certain situations, including during and after intensive physical training when the body cannot meet its needs by synthesizing Glutamine. This conditionally essential amino acid can be provided by dietary protein intake and by food supplements.

G-BOMB is a multi-component advanced Glutamine matrix that provides different Glutamines and other substances from this “family”. Glutamine via Glutamate is converted to Alpha-Ketoglutarate, an integral component of the Krebs-cycle that is an energy generating cycle in the body. Our formula also directly provides AKG, Alpha-Ketoglutarate!

- Micronized L-Glutamine, L-Alanine,L-Glutamine, L-Glutamic Acid, Alpha-Ketoglutarate Ca, Pteroyl-L-Glutamic Acid

- Auxiliary Complex: Citrus Fruit extract (Naringin), Bioperine

You get lots of Glutamine. That’s essentially it, the various “forms” of Glutamine will provide a complete dose and great absorption.

Taste
I had the Ice Tea flavour and its gorgeous, its just like a real Ice Tea, I had this as a treat rather than a supplement. Mixes perfectly leaves you wanting more.

Glutamine is one of the most important, underrated and underused supplements on the market. Glutamine is particularly useful for energy, recovery and reducing muscular fatigue. G-Bomb is easily one of the best Glutamine products I’ve ever used, asides from the amazing taste it works wonders for recovery. Scitec have made a fantastic product here.

G-Bomb is slightly more expensive than I would like to see but it’s not colossally overpriced and there is always a special offer on somewhere if you shop around. If you have never used a Glutamine product or looking for a way to speed up recovery then this is the product you need. 9/10

Fireworks isn’t relying on mind blowing amounts of Caffeine to give you a quick buzz and then a crash but rather puts the emphasis on sustained energy and focus.

There is no creatine added which is unusual for a preworkout but the other common ingredients (Arginine, Carnitine, Glutamine) are all present and fairly highly dosed.

Taste
I had the Orange-Lemon and it wasn’t really to my liking but that’s the not the end of the world with a preworkout, it mixed well and didn’t leave an aftertaste.

Side Effects
None

Price
£19.10 for a tub with 30 servings in.

Results
Preworkouts are mostly about energy and powering through your workouts. Fireworks never let me down on the energy front, I never felt the rush of a preworkout but I also never ran out of energy. I always had enough in the tank to finish my workout and then some. This isn’t a pump product so I wasn’t expecting much from it in the way of muscle pumps but I was pleasantly surprised, nothing skin tearing but a nice solid feeling.

A common complaint with preworkouts is an energy crash a couple of hours after taking it but Fireworks seemed to taper off nicely without leaving you feeling depleted.

Fireworks doesn’t taste great but its easy to drink and doesn’t have any side effects. It is reasonably priced and a good choice for anyone not wanting too much caffeine in their preworkout. 7/10

None – tablets are easy to swallow

Side Effects
Slight headache during the first day or two (likely due to eating less!) but nothing after that.

Results
Slim Down is supposed to reduce your appetite with the goal of losing unwanted weight. Well good news is it works, you will absolutely have less of an appetite so from that angle Slim Down is a success. However to get the full results that you want you would almost definitely have to pair this supplement with a dedicated fat burner.

Slim Down won’t burn calories it will just make you want to consume less calories. Slim Down does do exactly what it says on the tin and that is the hallmark of a good supplement and it does so whilst being reasonably priced and with very few side effects. Slim Down definitely is not an essential supplement but it is an effective one if fat loss is your ultimate goal. 9/10

Active Man Oatein

Overview
Here’s what Active Man has to say:

Power Up your breakfast and your muscles with delicious and satisfying high protein, low fat Oatein. Ideal with semi- skimmed milk or soya milk, or as part of a smoothie
As the name suggest this is a blend of high quality oats and whey protein, which provides a great start to any day or a healthy snack, as each serving is packed with slow release energy and protein to maintain energy levels, keep hunger at bay and also refuel muscles.

You get an ok protein hit with 20g (although round about half that will be from the 300ml milk) and the carbs are high enough to keep you energised through until lunch. Unsurprisingly from a product called Oatein the carbs are predominately coming from Oats which are a clean source of Carbs.

Taste
It tastes like a porridge shake. That’s how best I can describe it, it certainly is peculiar but by no means unpleasant. It is very thick and a little “oaty”.

Side Effects
None

Price
£16.99 for a 400g tub with 10 servings in.

Results
Well this is strange. I can’t quite work this product out. It’s clearly designed as a breakfast but I found it much better blended into a postworkout shake with a scoop of Bio-Synergy’s Whey Better.

It’s not quite high enough in protein to be my breakfast by itself, I needed to have a shake along side it, which isn’t a problem but 20g (including your milk) is slightly on the low side. The carbs, fats and calories are good for anyone either maintaining or bulking but probably not great for anyone cutting up.

It tastes okay by itself but it was awesome in a smoothie style postworkout with a banana and a scoop of Bio-Synergy Cookies and Cream Whey Better. It’s not cheap at £1.70 per serving but it still cheaper than buying breakfast out every day.  If you are looking for a slightly different take on a breakfast classic then this will certainly be worth a look. 7/10

Scitec Jumbo

Overview
Here’s what Scitec have to say:

Everybody seeks the magic bullet while ignoring the fact that nothing is more powerful than the consistent consumption of proper amount of total calories, energizing carbs and muscle building protein. Couple this with the fact that many athletes don’t invest time in the proven method of keeping a food log and the best practical solution left for most may be to rely on the daily use of a JUMBO type shake that can really help to take in enough nutrients to progress. With 50 grams of one of the highest quality protein per serving, a large dose of energy dense 6-carb matrix, the nutritional side of the equation is significantly boosted for you by JUMBO!

JUMBO is designed with whey protein. Dietary proteins are the source of nitrogen and indispensable amino acids, which the body requires for tissue growth and maintenance. Therefore, JUMBO contributes to the growth and maintenance of muscle mass.

JUMBO features our “6-CARB” carbohydrate blend that includes oat flour, Palatinose and native waxy maize food starch. The "JUMBO" extra ingredient matrix provides a good dose of our proprietary “CREA-BOMB multi-component creatine matrix”! At least a 3 g daily dose of Creatine is scientifically proven to increase performance in successive burst of short-term, high intensity exercise like weight training and interval cardio. We also added extra amino acids on top of the amounts coming from protein, including essential ones.

In the “Support complex” you’ll find Magnesium in a dose that contributes to normal protein synthesis, to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue, to normal functioning of the nervous system (neurotransmission and muscle contraction including heart muscle), to normal energy-yielding metabolism, to electrolyte balance, to the maintenance of normal bones and teeth, and has a role in the process of cell division. Finally, we also added BioPerine, a patented black pepper extract.

As you can see Jumbo gives you an awful lot of muscle building goodness. First up 50g of protein will kickstart the growth process in even the most stubborn of hardgainers. 143g of Carbs (59g fast acting) makes this an awesome choice for a recovery shake. Creatine is added as is Glutamine, BCAAs and various others bits and pieces to put you in an anabolic state. At 823 calories per serving this is a monstrous gainer.

Taste
I had the Strawberry flavour. It was alright as gainers go, its very thick and very filling as you would expect. It does have some slight mixing problems at the very bottom so you might want to use a blender of sorts for this.

Price

Jumbo is all about adding mass. Nothing else. With that in mind Jumbo is a massive success. With out any shadow of doubt Jumbo will add size to your puny frame. Jumbo has been engineered to perfection by Scitec everything is dosed correctly for gaining size.

One of my favourite aspects of Jumbo is the strength gains, I was expecting some size and weight gains but I wasn’t expecting to add much to my lifts which shot up by way more than I had planned. My pumps were improved as well, I think this is due to the amount of carbs that were floating around and the Hemo-No Matrix providing a boost.

Jumbo is certainly at the top of the pile when it comes to mass gainers. It is expensive, which unfortunately all gainers are, but I don’t think it is unreasonably priced considering the sheer amount of quality ingredients that they have packed into it. As the tag line suggests “Jumbo Means Big, Jumbo Means Strong” and certainly hasn’t disappointed. 9/10
