Scitec Protein Delite

Overview

Here’s what Scitec have to say:
We offer you these tasty shakes in many great flavors that are high in quality protein. Each flavor of Protein Delite contains dried fruit pieces or chocolate bits. Protein Delite’s protein source contributes to the maintenance and growth of muscle mass and also to the maintenance of normal bones.

Protein Delite contains milk proteins, including whey and casein, both so-called complete protein, because they provide the body with all necessary amino acids, including the 9 amino acids (i.e. Histidine, Isoleucine, Leucine, Lysine, Methionine, Phenylalanine, Threonine, Tryptophan, Valine) that are considered essential for life, because the body cannot synthesize them.

A nice low calorie protein treat, it’s a protein shake but with added crunchy bits. 19g of Protein is a decent size for a snack. Since it’s mostly casein protein I found it useful to have at night in place of a casein shake.

Sugars are slightly higher than I like at 3g but since it’s a snack I’ll forgive it.

Taste
I have the Chocolate Coconut flavour and it has a nice flavour but on your first serving you might be slightly put off by the pieces that are in it, it takes some getting used to.

Side Effects
None

Price
£32.90 for a 1kg tub with 33 servings in.

Results
I primarily used this in the evenings alongside a casein shake. I found that Protein Delite kept me full and satisfied. It’s quite sweet so it takes away any cravings that you might have which is handy when you are on a strict diet. The protein content is slightly low so it would not make a good post workout shake but I see no reason why you couldn’t use it at any time of day, personally I chose to use it in the evenings due to the casein content.

I think that although this could be used as a Casein replacement it should actually be used alongside one.  Protein Delite is more of a treat than a daily supplement not only because of cost but also the protein content isn’t quite high enough to make it an effective overnight supplement. That being said I like Protein Delite and think that it does exactly what it set out to do, make a damn tasty shake. 7/10
