Taste

I used the Chocolate flavour for this review and I didn’t like it, it was far too sweet and sickly. I have since tried the vanilla and it was bland. Very unusual for Bodybuilding Warehouse their product normally taste amazing. I also found it didn't mix very well (mass gainers rarely do). It was always lumpy. 5/10

Content

Nutritional Information Per 130g Serving:
Kcal 501
Protein (Dry Basis) 33.04g
Protein (As Is) 30.94g
Carbohydrates 81.63g
Sugars 8.94g
Fibre 3.63g
Fats 5.59g
of which Saturates 0.80g
Salt 0.27g

Not too keen on this formula, I always like to see in excess of 45g worth of protein in a gainer to really pack on the muscle. I know you can add another scoop in but that’s not the point.

Also included is what they refer to as a “Power Complex” or as you or I would call it Creatine. It’s actually 5g Creatine Monohydrate, 3g of Taurine, 2g high-quality Lysine and 1g Glycine. You’ll be forgiven for only recognising Creatine out of that list, the others mostly just help with endurance and Creatine absorption. However it is Creatine that’s important to help with your muscular endurance, power and it’ll suck some water into your muscles to make them look fuller. Although this normally causes some water bloat but who cares you’re bulking! Carry your water bloat stomach with pride. 7/10

Price

£29.99 for a 4KG bag that has 30 servings in.  Mass gainers are notoriously expensive so this one won’t set you back too much. However some people might want 2 servings a day to jack up their calories so watch out if you plan on doing that as you will run out in half the time. 8/10

Side Effects

Water bloat from the Creatine. Nothing major though. 9/10

Results
Got some good news and news. Good news whilst using this product in conjunction with a heavy training program and a decent high calorie diet I packed on just shy of a 9lbs in a month. Yay me. Bad news. By my calculations only 3.5lbs of that was muscle, so I gained a considerable amount of fat which is a problem. Well for me it is anyway as I’m not a fan of the eat anything in sight method of bulking.

I think the problem is that the shake is just too high in carbs and sugar (in my humble opinion anyway) and will result in unwanted fat gain.

This is a very good value product so if you don’t mind the fat gain, have a very high metabolism or if you handle carbs particularly well then this will be a great product for you. However if you like your bulking phases to be lean and controlled then stay away from this. 5/10
