Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey Review

Overview
Here is what Optimum Nutrition have to say:

Our Gold Standard 100% Whey is the world’s best-selling whey protein.
Gold Standard 100% Whey contains Whey Protein Isolates, or WPI. Rated 90+% pure protein, WPI is known as the highest quality whey ingredient.
Each delicious serving of Gold Standard 100% Whey contains 24g of premium whey protein and 5.5g branched chain amino acids, but just 1g of fat, 1g of sugar and 3g of carbs.

What Does It Do?
Muscle is actually broken down during your workout. Afterwards, during the recovery period, your body uses protein to repair the muscle fibres. The whey proteins in Gold Standard 100% Whey are absorbed into your system to support recovery and aid muscle growth.

When Is The Best Time To Enjoy My Shake?
Gold Standard 100% Whey is best enjoyed first thing in the morning and/or during the 30 minutes just before or immediately after training. Simply mix one rounded scoop with 6-8 oz (180-240ml) of your favourite beverage in your ON shaker.
No wonder it’s been voted Supplement of the Year and Protein Powder of the Year again in the annual BodyBuilding.com Supplement Awards!

Lets make no ends about it ON Gold Standard 100% Whey is very highly regarded in the industry, in fact its normally the first supplement most newbies try. There are countless meatheads, cover models, powerlifters and strongmen that swear by this. So lets see if it is all its cracked up to be….

Taste
I used the Milk Chocolate flavour, it was just about alright. I’ve had much better, it’s nowhere near the amazing tasting drink that its made out to be. I found it far too sweet.

It’s a whey protein shake designed to help you hit your MACROs. 24.3g of protein is pretty good there are higher out there but I don’t think anyone would question to quality of these 24g protein. You are definitely getting a very high quality shake.

None.

Results
Well this might be a bit controversial. This is possibly the most highly regarded supplement on the market and I’m not sure how it’s managed to get the reputation it has. It’s not a bad protein shake but it’s certainly not the shining beacon of bodybuilding that everyone would have you believe. To be perfectly and brutally honest its average. There are a fair few better supplements on the market, there are better tasting, cheaper protein shakes out there. The quality of ON Gold Standard can’t be questioned though, it is top notch but it’s not the only good quality protein on the market.

Is this a bad shake? No. Is this the best shake in the world? No.

At some time or another most athletes will try this shake but hopefully some of them won’t get swept along in the Gold Standard mania and try something different. 6/10
